When we started ELM in 2012, we never dreamed of all the “little miracles” that would take place in 2020. A challenging year brought out the best in our community. We created an Impact Report t0 share all the good work we have been able to do with the help of our many partners. Because 2020 was a unique year, we have included data from 2019 in this report as well. This gives us a big picture look at lives impacted, partnerships formed, and people served.

Our new website  more clearly defines the work we are doing to end generational poverty by working collaboratively with others. We used that same structure in our Impact Report to help us tell stories from our Little Miracles grants program, the Community Connections project, and our developing Pathway to Sustainability model.

In addition to these success stories, we have also shared some pretty impressive numbers that have truly been miraculous including a 30% increase in the number of agencies on the CharityTracker network. As we were preparing the report, we took a look at the breakdown of the network. Of the more than 200 organizations on the network, 56% are nonprofits, 19% are community organizations (like Huntsville Utilities, three school systems, the Chamber of Commerce, Huntsville Hospital, and Crestwood Medical Center), 15% are corporations, and 10% are churches. This unique mix of organizations increases our capacity to meet local needs and the network has delivered over $4.1 million in assistance to nearly 39,000 people. That's amazing work in a time when our community had tremendous needs.

In addition to working collaboratively with our network partners to meet needs across the community, we also awarded more than $200,000 in grants to 33 participants with average grants of more than $6,000. Those grants funded tuition, fees, and books for students. We also helped people stay employed by funding grants for childcare, transportation, and technical training. Every one of those grants is a "little miracle" for our participants and helps us achieve our goal of ending generation poverty one family at a time.

The report also recognizes our donors, sponsors, and CharityTracker Sustainability Fund collaborative partners. Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey. We hope you will help us continue to make “little miracles” possible.
