We Are All Doing This Work for Good!

By: Missy Hanks, Executive Director

Congratulations to the 2023-2024 Pathway to Sustainability cohort! They have officially finished the “training” portion of the year and will now implement the Pathway model into practice. The cohort and their Boards have received instruction in effective case management, the CharityTracker software, the importance and tracking of outcomes and more. We are honored to be working with receptive and intentional agencies! We are grateful to the Community Foundation, Cintel and TVA for sponsoring this work. The Pathway to Sustainability is a paid training opportunity for local nonprofit direct service provider staff, Board members, and administration. The monthly meetings, facilitated by The ELM Foundation, provide practical case management methods and tools utilizing outcomes-focused curricula and the CharityTracker software.

The Pathway to Sustainability model is designed to help organizations-

  • Intentionally focus their organizational impact based on mission, expertise, and experience (do what they do best!) which reduces duplication of agency services in the community
  • Work together with other community agencies to leverage resources for maximum impact in Madison County
  • Stop asking their clients “What can we do to help you?”
  • Start asking “What can we do to help you so that you do not need us anymore?”

Agency resources and services are documented, and outcomes of the assistance are tracked in the CharityTracker database. The Pathway to Sustainability yearly cohort can potentially earn participating agencies $10,000 grant funding by-

  • Completion of a 2-hour Board training with at least 75% of the Board participating in complete training
  • Board minutes/approval identifying agency’s position on and commitment to Pathway to Sustainability model provided within 4 months of signing the grant agreement
  • Participation in at least 75% of monthly cohort calls and staff trainings by agency representative for one year
  • Completion of one year anniversary audit of acceptance of the CharityTracker and agency accountability to the Pathway to Sustainability model
  • Complete grant reports on online portal via The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville

If your organization would like to take advantage of this paid training opportunity and effective charity model, please visit the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville website at www.givehsv.org for grant application and instructions. More exciting news to follow for an expansion of this program is coming!
